One of the things I love about blogging is meeting people all over the world with common interests and great ideas. One of my new friends is Heidi at www.lightlycrunchy.wordpress.com. She lives on a small farm with two beautiful girls, and one of my favorite things she shares is her body scrubs.
Today ended one of the longest parenting weeks I’ve had in a long time. Once I got the kids to bed, I was craving a bath and an ice cold mojito. Even better- I could have both! While the bath filled, I made this scrub and a drinkable mojito & took an hour enjoying both to recuperate from the week.
Please check out Heidi’s wonderful site, and find her scrub here. You can find a few more notes and some other great scrubs there.
slightly adapted from www.lightlycrunchy.com
- 1/4 c. fresh mint leaves (I used chocolate mint that is going wild in my garden right now)
- zest of 2 limes (she also used the juice- but if you have sensitive skin like myself, citrus juices are not recommended to use on the skin)
- 10 drops of lime essential oil (optional- not recommended for extremely sensitive skin), could also use peppermint essential oil
- 2/3 cups sugar- raw or unrefined
- 1/4 cup olive oil
blend mint leaves in blender or food processor with 2 T. of sugar. Add the rest of sugar, zest, and oils. Stir to combine. Use it all over your body for a yummy and healthy glow. I even used it on my face and it looks like I got a facial! Store in fridge for up to a few weeks.
